Jerry R. McKenney - Partner

A resident of Houston since 1967, Mr. McKenney received his undergraduate degree from the University of Houston, and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps in 1980. As an artillery officer, he served in a variety of U.S. and overseas assignments to Fleet Marine Force units where he was recognized for exceptional technical and leadership ability. Mr. McKenney was also decorated for exceptional achievement while representing the Marine Corps as an officer candidate recruiter. He served on active duty until 1988 and as a reserve officer until 1995.

Upon obtaining his law degree from the University of Houston in 1991, Mr. McKenney commenced the private practice of law representing individual plaintiffs in maritime, Jones Act, Federal Employers Liability Act, and product liability cases nationwide.  He joined Legge, Farrow in 1999 and has devoted his practice 100 percent to the art and science of the civil trial.  Mr. McKenney has successfully represented corporate clients in a wide array of product liability, personal injury and wrongful death cases at the administrative, trial, and appellate levels.  He has appeared in the state and federal courts of many jurisdictions including Texas, New Mexico, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, California, Alabama, Tennessee, Virginia, Kansas, Illinois, and Arkansas.

Mr. McKenney’s areas of expertise are in product liability, maritime, onshore and offshore oilfield casualties, Jones Act, and Longshore and Harbor Workers Compensation Act/Defense Base Act matters.  He has attained extensive expertise and experience in the trial of cases featuring complex scientific or medical problems including traumatic brain injury, psychological trauma/disorders, thermal and chemical burns, and acute or chronic exposures to toxic substances.
