Mr. Kimmitt equally divides his time in the areas of trial law and commercial transactions. He received his J.D. from Texas Tech University School of Law in 1985, where he served as President of the Student Bar Association. He received his undergraduate degree in History and Political Science in 1979 from the University of Texas at El Paso. Upon graduation, he joined the VISTA program, where he started a center for juvenile delinquents in the Seattle/Tacoma, Washington area.

Mr. Kimmitt has handled a wide array of personal injury matters, as well as complex commercial litigation in both state and federal courts, including the United States Supreme Court. Mr. Kimmitt's practice also includes the drafting, revision and negotiation of all types of contractual agreements and corporate documents, with particular emphasis in the areas of charter agreements, master service contracts, joint operating agreements and drilling contracts. He has also spoken at several seminars on the subject of indemnity and additional assured contractual provisions in the marine and energy industries.
