Alexander C. Papandreou - Partner

Mr. Papandreou was born in 1967 and raised in Athens, Greece and attended the University of Athens – School of Law, where he received a LL.B. in 1988.  After successfully completing the mandatory two-year apprenticeship period and the required written and oral portions of the Athens bar examination, Mr. Papandreou was licensed to practice law in Greece (European Union) in 1991.  Mr. Papandreou received his U.S. legal education at Notre Dame Law School, where he received his J.D. in 1994.  He has been licensed to practice law in Texas since 1994 and is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States, the United States Courts of Appeals for the Fifth, Eleventh, and D.C. Circuits, as well as the United States District Courts for the Southern, Northern, Eastern, and Western Districts of Texas.

Since moving to Houston in 1994, Mr. Papandreou has been focusing his practice in the areas of admiralty/maritime and general commercial litigation and arbitration, as well as personal injury, products liability, and complex civil litigation law.  He has successfully represented clients at the trial and appellate levels in a wide array of cases litigated in both federal and state courts of many jurisdictions including Texas, Louisiana, California, Alabama, Mississippi, New York, Arkansas, Utah, and the District of Columbia.  Mr. Papandreou is the author of "Krebs v. Rutgers: The Potential for Disclosure of Highly Confidential Personal Information Renders Questionable the Use of Social Security Numbers as Student Identification Numbers," 20 Journal of College & University Law 79 (1993) and has also served as a guest writer for the Express Daily Financial Newspaper in Athens, Greece (1995-present).  Mr. Papandreou made a presentation at the 2006 SKULD P&I Club Piraeus Seminar on “Navigating the Shoals of U.S. Maritime Litigation: A U.S. Lawyer’s Perspective on a Unique Legal System.”  He is a member of the American, Federal, and Houston Bar Associations, the State Bar of Texas, the Athens Bar Association, Proctor of the Maritime Law Association of the United States and has served as Vice President and Member of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic-American Chamber of Commerce of Texas. Mr. Papandreou speaks Greek, English, French, German, and Italian.
